MWAK MENTORS STUDENTS IN NAKURU AND GILGIL REGIONS

Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) recently conducted mentorship programs for Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) sponsored schools in Nakuru and Gilgil regions.

The talks; which focused on time management, relationships, and goal setting targeted high school KCSE candidates.

The mentors visited: Lanet Mixed Day Secondary School, Lanet Primary School, Nakuru East Primary School, Koelel High School in Nakuru region, Gilgil Garrison Mixed Secondary School, Gilgil Garrison Primary School and Kenyatta Barracks Primary School in Gilgil Region.

MWAK Chairlady Mrs Tabitha Kibochi emphasized on the importance of discipline in order to succeed saying, “It all starts with being disciplined so as to stay focused without which the result is failure.”

Speaking at Koelel High School, Vice-Chair Mrs. Aileen Ogolla urged the students to work hard and refuse to bow to negative peer influence.

Invited guest speaker Sister Mary Josephine addressed relationships detailing healthy and unhealthy ones for students and how relationships are likely to affect and influence their performance. She urged teachers and parents to talk to the young generation on matters of reproduction without fear so as prevent early pregnancies, homosexuality and Gender-based violence.

Alumni from KDF sponsored schools were also invited to share their success stories to bolster the confidence of the students’, showing them the possibilities before them.

Further, MWAK donated desks, lockers and reading materials including revision books. MWAK gifted the secondary schools with sanitary towels and other items.

School Principals thanked MWAK for their visit saying the advice and guidance given will go a long way in improving performance, both in and out of class.
