Defence Headquarters Compensation and Welfare (C&W) branch in collaboration with the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) has today, 10 October 2022, marked the World Mental Health Day by visiting Military Personnel admitted at the Wellness Centre in Lang’ata Barracks, Nairobi.
In line with this year’s theme: ‘Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority,’ Chief of Compesation & Welfare Brigadier John Khaoya with other KDF officers accompanied by MWAK members led by the Chairperson Mrs. Tabitha Kibochi, visited military personnel experiencing mental health issues at the facility.
Addressing the patients, Brigadier Khaoya urged the patients not to lose hope in life assuring them of support and love from the military fraternity. He also pointed out that the will and power to get better starts with them as individuals.
On the same platform, MWAK Chairlady Mrs. Kibochi urged the male personnel to take charge of their lives as heads of their families, for the sake of their families’ stability. “Find purpose in your life to be honourable men in the society,” she added.
Present at the event was Senior Medical Officer Defence Forces Wellness Centre Colonel (Dr) Thomas Muvonde, Colonel Daniel Musyoki, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
