IMPROVING THE LIVES OF DIFFERENTLY ABLED CHILDREN

The Military Wives Association of Kenya in partnership with The Kenya Navy Hospital (TKNH) and Bethany Kids today, 11 May 2023, undertook a reassessment and rehabilitation of supportive aids equipment issued to differently abled children of the Kenya Navy service personnel at the Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe, Mombasa.

The team conducted physiotherapy exercises to identify the abilities and disabilities of the disabled children and assess their condition. They also fitted and replaced worn out wheelchairs.

Speaking during the event, the Officer-In-Charge of Physiotherapy at TKNH Lieutenant Colonel Rachael Wamaitha congratulated the team for working shoulder to shoulder to provide effective and efficient services to the differently abled children.

“I want to thank the Kenya Defence Forces administration, MWAK and Bethany Kids for putting a smile on the faces of the Kenya Navy families especially the differently abled children,” she said.

The wheelchairs will greatly improve the mobility and quality of life for the children who would otherwise be unable to move around independently.

Present during the event were Kenya Navy Officers, Service Members and Families.
