The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) has in Nairobi today 15th May 2023 held a fundraising breakfast towards the construction of a KDF special needs school.
The event is in line with MWAK’s Educational Pillar which culminates in creating holistic KDF families.
Speaking during the ceremony, the outgoing MWAK Chairperson, Mrs. Tabitha Kibochi, expressed her passion for family, noting that MWAK was founded on the unity of purpose as a vehicle to support KDF families. Mrs. Tabitha urged the invited guests to hold hands with MWAK and realize the dream of walking far together in creating holistic KDF families.
She further appealed to all partners and individuals alike for support in realizing this vision.
Former Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Ambassador Raychelle Omamo while addressing the invited guests, expressed her pride in MWAK and the entire Defence Forces, noting how they have always been determined and focused in their projects. She further wished MWAK well as they embarked on their project, expressing her pride in them and how happy she was that the humanity of soldiers and families is given priority.
“I am proud to be associated with MWAK, and encourage you to keep at it,” said Amb Raychelle.
Assistant Chief of Defence Forces Personnel and Logistics, (ACDF P&L) Major General David Keter on his part acknowledged the fact that KDF lacks facilities for special needs children hence the need for the construction project.
He further applauded MWAK’s initiative, saying that it is on the right quest in seeking to carry out the project, and further promised to partner with them while taking the lead.
Heads of different corporate institutions in attendance made pledges in support of the project noting how noble it was.
