MWAK INSPECTS KAHAWA SPECIAL UNIT AND MAB GREENPARK INITIATIVE

On January 10, 2025, the Military Wives Association of Kenya led by the Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Kahariri visited Kahawa Special Unit within Kahawa Garrison Primary School to inspect the renovation progress that started late last year.

A delegation from Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) led by the Director, Dr. Norman Kiogora, was present; alongside the Garrison Camp Commandant Colonel Zainab Golo and Kahawa Garrison Education Representatives.

Mrs. Kahariri appreciated KISE for being a vital partner in the implementation of this project. She also acknowledged her predecessor, Mrs. Aileen Ogolla, who came up with this vision and affirmed that she and the entire MWAK fraternity will work to ensure its success.

“This project is one of the many ways in which MWAK advocates for KDF families with special needs dependents. Its success will bolster the spirit of inclusion among our schools and further see to it that these kids are equipped with similar skillsets and opportunities as the other students.”

Director KISE, Dr. Norman Kiogora, urged MWAK to conduct empowerment programs for the military personnel with special needs dependents. This, he says, will holistically improve the lives of both the children and their caregivers.

The unit can accommodate over 60 students, but currently, 40 are enrolled. MWAK is certain that the success of this project will make it possible for other special units to be developed across all KDF camps.

Thereafter, the members visited Moi Air Base to inspect the progress of MWAK GreenPark initiative, which aims to offer recreational areas for military families within the base.
