MWAK CELEBRATES MAJ. GEN. (RTD) FATUMA AHMED.

The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri, led MWAK members in a farewell ceremony in honour of Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Fatuma Ahmed for her unwavering support to the association, tremendous contributions to individual lives and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) at MWAK Headquarters.

In her remarks, Mrs. Grace Kahariri expressed gratitude for Maj. Gen. Fatuma’s historic contributions, describing her as a trailblazer, a pioneer for women in the KDF, as the first female Air Force Commander in the world, placing her among a select group of high-ranking female officers.

She lauded the General’s resilience, visionary leadership, and the inspiration she has offered to countless women. On behalf of MWAK. Mrs. Kahariri highlighted Maj. Gen. Fatuma’s pivotal support for the TVET on wheels initiative since its inception, a legacy that continues to impact many lives.

She concluded by thanking her, wishing her rest and joy in her next phase. “You have worked so hard and accomplished so much, and now it’s time for you to kick back and enjoy it”. Mrs. Kahariri warmly invited her to remain engaged with MWAK as a valued partner and a mentor.

MWAK members present shared heartfelt messages of appreciation, commending her humility, outstanding leadership, and devoted service to the nation. They celebrated her as a role model who has broken barriers. “You have positively touched each of us, even on a personal level. Your legacy has opened doors for future generations, and we wish you all the best in your retirement, with hopes for continued partnership with MWAK,” they expressed.

In her heartfelt remarks, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Fatuma Ahmed thanked MWAK for their unique and invaluable support to KDF families, emphasizing that their work strengthens the spirit of connection and community within the military. She noted that as she transitions into retirement, “MWAK will always hold a special place in my life due to the support I have received and the friendships that have been built”. She encouraged the team to continue with their great work in supporting KDF families and wished them well in all future endeavors.
The event concluded on a high note, with MWAK reaffirming its mission to serve and uplift KDF families, inspired by the extraordinary example set by Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Fatuma Ahmed.
