MWAK SIGNS MPESA AGENCY CONTRACT FOR MWAKBIZ LIMITED WITH SAFARICOM FOUNDATION

On January 14, MWAK Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri led the Executive Committee (ExCom) in signing a contract for MWAKBIZ Limited with Safaricom Foundation for an Mpesa Agency, marking a significant milestone. This partnership is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Safaricom Foundation and MWAK, aimed at supporting MWAK’s operations and programs.

In her welcome speech, Mrs. Kahariri expressed gratitude to Safaricom Foundation for the partnership, highlighting Mpesa’s role in supporting MWAK’s operations and empowerment initiatives. “This contract will enable us to derive income for our projects and empower MWAK members to earn a living. We value this partnership and look forward to delivering results.” She thanked Safaricom Foundation for the trust in allocating the Agency, appreciating the hard work and insights that made the signing of the contract possible.

Ms. Brenda Mutuma, in charge of Mpesa Dealers and Agencies at Safaricom Foundation, applauded MWAK for taking the bold step of engaging the Foundation for the Mpesa Agency meant to benefit its members, noting that the project is a stepping stone to bigger projects for the organization’s next step. She shared the Mpesa Agency onboarding process, noting that the number of MWAK members provides a good customer base.

Ms. Lucy Mwangi, Dealership Administrator at Safaricom Foundation, thanked Mrs. Kahariri for the idea. “It has been a journey to reach this stage of the contract signing; there are many opportunities in Safaricom Foundation, and we promise to grow together, working hand in hand to impact MWAK members.”

Once the Agency is rolled out, willing MWAK members will be given Mpesa tills to do business and financially empower themselves.
