MWAK REGIONAL PILLAR HEADS ORIENTATION

The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK), under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri, convened the Regional Pillar Heads Orientation Meeting on 9 May 2026 at the Moran Centre, Nairobi. The meeting brought together MWAK ExCom members, Headquarters Pillar Heads, and 74 Regional Pillar Heads from across the country for a day of learning, alignment, and renewed commitment to service.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Kahariri warmly welcomed all Regional Pillar Heads and reaffirmed MWAK’s dedication to implementing the MWAK Strategic Plan 2026–2030, noting that its success will directly uplift and empower all KDF families and Strengthening MWAK’s Footprint Nationwide.

She encouraged the leaders to embrace their roles with courage and confidence, reminding them that “We are enough.” She further expressed gratitude to the ExCom members for their tireless support in planning and executing this important engagement.


The morning session featured presentations by MWAK Headquarters Pillar Heads, who guided their regional counterparts on how to initiate and strengthen MWAK activities within their respective formations and Regions. The session emphasized visibility, structured coordination, and impactful service delivery.


Special recognition was given to Mrs. Regina Mulwa, Lead of the Widows and Orphans Pillar, who received an award for delivering the best presentation of the day.


Highlighting on Partnerships and Sustainability, Mrs. Kahariri acknowledged the unwavering commitment of MWAK’s partners, noting that much of the Association’s progress is anchored in these collaborations. She highlighted the transformative impact of the TVET Programme, particularly the TVET on Wheels initiative, which is set to enhance sustainability and expand access to skills training for more KDF dependants across the country.

The afternoon session featured insightful presentations from MWAK’s key partners, including:
• Joyful Women Organization (JoyWo) – Women’s economic empowerment and table banking
• Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) – Support for children with special needs
• Family Bank – Queens Banking – Women-focused financial solutions
• BethanyKids – Paediatric health and specialised medical support.

These engagements deepened understanding of available programmes and opened new avenues for collaboration at regional level.

The Regional Pillar Heads Orientation marked a significant step in strengthening MWAK’s national presence and enhancing coordinated service delivery. With renewed energy, clear direction, and strong partnerships, MWAK continues to advance its mission of empowering KDF families and building resilient communities across Kenya.
