MWAK Executive members led by the Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Kahariri, on 21 November 2024, hosted representatives from the Bethany Kids Organization to review the progress of their current partnership and come up with innovative strategies that would enable them to achieve desired goals.
Bethany Kids is an organization that focuses on providing quality healthcare to African children with special needs through pediatric surgery, rehabilitation, spiritual ministry, and training of health professionals.
The three-year partnership has enabled MWAK to change the lives of KDF dependents with special needs by offering psychosocial support and donation of assistive devices among them; wheelchairs and walking aids.
Mrs. Grace Kahariri cited that the success of this partnership is attributed to the commitment of both organisations to children with special needs. Providing them with these services gives the dependants an opportunity to explore independent lives and lowers the financial burden for the KDF families.
In line with the health pillar, MWAK strives to enhance the quality of KDF families with PWDs, and Bethany Kids plays a vital role in achieving this mission. So far, we have recorded tremendous success stories, hence our certainty that we can change more lives together.
In 2024, the two organizations conducted outreach exercises in Langata Garrison and Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, where a number of KDF dependants with special needs were equipped with assistive devices and mentorship support from the psychologists.
Bethany Kids reaffirmed its commitment to the course, noting that they will explore other approaches of cementing the partnership with MWAK.
