
On 23rd September 2025, The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) Executive Committee members led by the Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri held a meeting with Deputy Commandant Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) Col (Dr.) John Kisilu and Representatives from the Family Group Foundation led by the Executive Director FBF Mr. John Waimiri at MWAK headquarters.
The meeting was to deliberate on final plans for the roll out of the TVET ON WHEELS Pilot training program tailored for Special Needs Children marking a critical step towards ensuring children differently abled in military families access quality education and support, also to plan on the vetting of applicants for the 4th Cohort of Construction Skills and Development training.
This engagement builds earlier meetings, of setting the stage for MWAK to reach even the remotest parts of this country, ensuring that no child is left behind.
TVET on wheels program is tailor made for vulnerable youths and children with special needs who will be trained on Information Communication and Technology (ICT), plumbing and Electrical courses. The training will be launched on 13th October 2025 at 9KR in Eldoret marking a significant step towards enhancing support for military dependants on matters skills.
“Every child is capable of learning, they have different talents therefore, TVET on Wheels will help students to discover, explore and develop those talents.” stated Mrs. Kahariri.
The advertisement for Pilot of TVET on Wheels and Cohort 4 training has begun through MWAK Social Media handles and KDF establishments through Defence Headquarters. The application period will be open until Monday, 6th October, followed by interviews on Tuesday, 7th and Wednesday, 8th October in Eldoret.
Application is open to KDF youths.
For the differently abled children interested in Information Communication Technology (ICT) the training will be offered at the Kahawa Garrison.
The meeting marked an important step towards inclusive education practices in technology mainstreaming, a step towards inclusivity by breaking barriers and building opportunities for all through the TVET on wheels training.
In Conclusion, Mrs Grace Kahariri commended those present for their commitment and appreciated each one for active participation and insights. She mentioned that the roll out will impact lives , unlock potentials and bring opportunity to every child.
