MWAK JOINS FAMILY GROUP FOUNDATION IN COMMISSIONING AND SEND-OFF CEREMONY FOR SCHOLARSHIP BENEFICIARIES

Members of the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) led by the Chairperson Mrs. Aileen Ogolla joined Family Group Foundation, under the Family Group Limited today to host the 2024 High School Scholarship Joint Commissioning and Send Off Ceremony at Moi Forces Academy, Nairobi.

During the event, 352 bright but vulnerable students selected from 34 counties were awarded the scholarships. The package is inclusive of full tuition, school uniform and boarding fees for the four years.

Speaking during the event, MWAK Chairlady Mrs. Aileen Ogolla thanked the Family Group Foundation and the Ministry of Education for their support in ensuring that students from disadvantaged backgrounds are also able to access education.

Addressing the scholars, Mrs. Ogolla said, “We pray that we will also be invited to celebrate you on the successful completion of your studies, and that you will make wise choices to ensure that you contribute to national development as you impact your families and communities.” She congratulated the Scholars on their good performance that had earned them a slot in the program but cautioned them on the dangers of resting on their laurels.

The Board Chairman of the Family Group Foundation Dr. Francis Muraya thanked MWAK for support and partnership in the scholarship program.

“It is important to note, that what counts most is what you give back to the world and to your community. I urge you to make your family, your community and this country proud,” He added.

Dr. Muraya also encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity given as a stepping stone to greater things. The Chairman added an additional three-slots to KDF orphans to make a total of five students who will benefit from the program annually.

Representing the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Director General Dr. Elyas Abdi Jillaow, encouraged the scholars to make use of the opportunity to also mentor others in the future.

“As a Ministry, we attach a lot of importance to such initiatives because education is everything to an individual. I congratulate all the students for their exemplary performance in the concluded KCPE examinations. We thank the Family Group Foundation for investing in the future of this country,” He added.

In attendance were the Chairman of Family Bank Limited, Dr. Wilfred Kiboro, the CEO Family Bank Limited, Dr. Nancy Njau, the Director of Family Group Foundation, Mr. John Waimiri, MWAK members, Ministry of Education representatives, officials, Chief Principal Moi Forces Academy Mr. Maina,and teachers and KDF Personnel.
