MWAK MEETS BETHANYKIDS AND KISE FOR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TALKS

MWAK members led by Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri, on February 5, 2025, held a strategic meeting with representatives from BethanyKids and the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) at the Officers Mess in Defence Headquarters.

Mrs. Kahariri, who chaired the meeting, expressed her gratitude for the participation of both organizations, emphasizing that their involvement plays a pivotal role in enhancing the welfare of differently abled persons within KDF families.

The primary objective of the meeting was to assess the progress of ongoing initiatives and explore additional avenues for collaboration between the three organizations.

Over the past three years, MWAK’s partnership with BethanyKids has significantly benefited many KDF families, particularly through the provision of psychosocial support and the donation of assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walking aids.

Looking ahead, the three parties are set to formalize their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement will outline the expectations and responsibilities of each party as well as provide a clear structure for their collective efforts toward shared goals.

In the spirit of partnership, KISE invited MWAK in a parental engagement forum on February 8, 2025, at the KISE Conferencing Centre. The event was aimed at empowering parents and caregivers through panel discussions, interactive sessions and feedback surveys.

Among the speakers was MWAK Special Needs Lead, Mrs. Frida Gatere, who shared profound insights on effective caregiving and available opportunities for parental support.
