
In a progressive step towards meaningful collaboration, the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) Executive Committee led by the Chairperson, Mrs. Grace Kahariri held a strategic meeting with representatives from the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) to explore areas of partnership in line with MWAK’s eight strategic pillars. The KCB delegation was led by by Senior Relationship Manager Mr. Kennedy Mbaya and Head of Programs at KCB Foundation, Mr. Joblin Omari.
”My key goal is raising a generation of leaders by working closely with individuals, professionals, business owners, organizations and institutions to develop effective leadership strategies that promote personal and professional growth and inspire positive change to the KDF families for those serving, retired, widows, and orphans.” MWAK Chairperson stated.
Both teams expounded on their programmes to better understand and explore common partnership areas. KCB representatives elaborated on their flagship programs under the education and employment pillars—supporting over 5,600 students with scholarships, empowering youth and women through vocational training, and funding entrepreneurial ventures. They also highlighted inclusive initiatives like support for special needs students and livestock-based programs under “Mifugo Nyumbani.”
Potential areas for collaboration that were identified include; vocational training, scholarships for special needs students, health outreach, mentorship in KDF schools, diaper provision support, environmental conservation through tree planting within KDF establishments. , equipping of a therapy room at Kahawa Special Needs Unit, equipping of ICT centers and tailor made programs for women and orphans.
