The chairperson of Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) Mrs Grace Kahariri on 12 November 2024, led the executive members in hosting a delegate from Safaricom to continue with deliberations on a mutual partnership aimed to improve the economic wellbeing of KDF families.
Mrs. Grace Kahariri in welcoming the team, expressed her appreciation, noting that MWAK and Safaricom have shared need for sustainable practices in Education, Health and Economic Empowerment. Therefore, the opportunity for synergy will result in a positive impact on both organizations.
Safaricom foundation mission is to ” transform lives through partnering for impactful community investment”, together with Mpesa foundation, MWAK hopes to tap into their available programmes such as Mpesa dealership to augment the support they already receive from Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and support its objective in the women and youth empowerment programmes.
Ms. Lucy Mwangi, Partner Management, detailed the requirements of the partnership, taking the participants through dealership requirements, available products and the opportunities that can possibly be of interest to MWAK for consideration. Her sentiments were echoed by the other three representatives who pointed out that seeing women passionate for change, growth and economic development is inspiring and that the team will work to expedite the agreements.
Through various partnerships, MWAK has recorded an impressive number of successful projects for KDF dependents. As we look ahead, MWAK will continuously engage with Safaricom to take advantage of the many programmes to improve the welfare of our families.
