NATIONAL DEFENCE UNIVERSITY OF KENYA 2ND COHORT GRADUATE

On November 22, 2024, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the University Chancellor, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Kenya Defence Forces, presided over the second cohort graduation ceremony of National Defence University -Kenya held at Lanet, Nakuru County.

MWAK Members, led by the Chairperson Mrs. Grace Kahariri were present to witness the significant milestone.

Th event marked the culmination of rigorous training, which saw a total of 227 graduates confered with masters degrees and diploma awards in various fields.

In his address, President Ruto, expressed his delight of witnessing the achievement recorded by the university, citing that it is a show of patriotism and a pivotal step towards tackling the evolving and complex state of security across the world.

He further elucidated that defence extends beyond manning border security and must involve fostering stability and economic growth as well. In line with this, he urged the graduates to embrace critical learning and remain teachable and adaptable at a time where matters of security are considered unpredictable.

“I am confident that you have acquired the skills and techniques necessary to address crises as they arrive, anticipate future threats, and mitigate them in record time.”

On the same platform, the Chief of the Defence Forces and Chairperson of NDU-K Council, General Charles Kahariri, congratulated the graduates for their dedication and sacrifice throughout the training. He especially appreciated the University Council, University Management, and entire University Community for training another cohort successfully.

General Karahiri alluded that professionalising the Defence Forces is a core pillar that will enable strategic thinkers to come up with practical innovative solutions in matters regarding the nation’s security landscape.

NDU-K attacks learners from other African and International countries among them Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, India, Malawi, Namibia, Nepal, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
