LATE GENERAL OGOLLA LAID TO REST

The Late Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla on 21 April was laid to rest at his homegrown in Ng’iya village, Siaya County.

The convoy moving his body from Kisumu to Obama K’Ogello Primary School was joined by passionate Siaya locals chanting his name with love and sorrow for the loss of a gallant soldier.

Lorna Achieng Ogolla, the daughter of the Late General, thanked the KDF franternity for being a family throughout her life and a constant support system especially the last three days which have been filled by a stir of emotions. In the eulogy, she described her father as a man who constantly pursued success and worked as if he was always working for God.

“I therefore urge you to not lose yourselves entirely in the mourning, instead, let us celebrate a life well lived and strive to pursue sucess like my father did.”

Joel Ogolla, who has recently won the hearts of the public with his confidence and eloquence, spoke of the great working relationship shared between his father and The President contrary to what the public might be made to believe. He urged bloggers to exercise a level of sensitivity while sharing information on social media; a quality that was not fully applied in the case of his father’s demise.

He then went ahead to share his intended projects for the people of Nyanza which include rehabilitation of schools, churches and access to clean water for every local. This, he believes, is the only way to continue his father’s legacy.

The C-in-C President William Ruto and Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale led other government officials in paying their tributes to late General Ogolla whom they described as an honourable soldier and expressed their admiration for living by the Law and the Bible in the accomplishment of his missions.

Late General Ogolla was accorded a 19 gun salute before the private wreath laying ceremony at his homestead. He was among the 10 officers who died in a helicopter crash on Thursday on the border between Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gichu counties.

Over 40 MWAK members showed up to stand by Chairlady Aileen Ogolla. Others present were senior government officials, military officers and dignitaries from other African countries.
